A look at the media in all its forms, its impact on audiences and what press exposure does for organisations. Discussion.
10.15am - Writing articles
Getting your subject right. Writing a synopsis. Writing good copy, to length and on time. Exercise.
11.00am Coffee
11.15am - Preparing a story
In teams, finding a story from your firm and preparing to publicise it. Exercise.
12 midday - Get the story out
Press releases, press conferences, website publication and media responses. Practical.
12.45pm Lunch
1.45pm - How do journalists work?
What are journalists interested in and what angle do they put on stories? How can we drive the agenda? Talk by a well known sector journalist.
2.45pm - Interviews
Taking the stories prepared in the morning, the journalist will interview each trainee. Recorded.
